ASPEKTE Salzburg will be held at the Mozarteum from March 5 – 9, 2008 under the artistic supervision of the composer, Ludwig Nussbichler, who will redirect the Festival for New Music back to its original purpose: the presentation of new music. The target groups for the new aspekteSPIELRÄUME module include music fans, students as well as children and their parents.
The program is planned to include the following performances: - Pierrot Lunaire with the Merlin Ensemble, Silvie Rohrer and Hermann Beil - Cairo's Quartet Berlin performing string quartets by Georg Friedrich Haas and Gerd Kühr - a European premiere by George Crumb - premieres by Andor Losconzy and Reinhard Febel - the focus will be on the Austrian Ensemble for New Music, performing both as an ensemble and as a chamber music orchestra.
At the time of its formation, Salzburg's Music Society planned to introduce a festival in Mozart's city focused on contemporary music with a superb quality of interpretation.
