From June 25 to August 27 Salzburg customs will be presented at a venue with a long historical past: the Hedge Theater in the park of Mirabell Palace.
Most visitors are familiar with the Festival Halls, Salzburg's Landestheater and the International Mozarteum Foundation's concert halls. But who would guess that another stage is tucked away in the baroque gardens of Mirabell Palace? This stage is called the `Heckentheater` and dates back to 1704. And of course no open-air stage is left unused during the summer months. The performances in the Hedge Theater and Mirabell Gardens are not in the refined culture category but serve as the ideal summer backdrop for traditional folk music (not to be mistaken for popular folk music!). Local dance groups, folk music choirs and ensembles will present a colorful rendition of regional folk music from June 25 to August 27 each Friday evening. Wind instrument bands will also perform 'Leuchtbrunnen- und Promenadenkonzerte' (illuminated fountain and promenade concerts) on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
Folklore afternoon at the Hedge Theater June 25 to August 27 Fridays from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
