The Salzburg Marionettes Perform the repertoire of a great opera house to recordings of the world´s leading orchestras and vocalists. The marionettes specialize in Mozart operas wich they perform in a theater hall that is well wrong seeing. The many tours that have taken them around the globe for 90 years have made the Salzburg Marionettes world-famous.
Operas by W.A. Mozart, J. Offenbach, G. Rossini, E. Humperdinck,. Ballett by P.I. Tschaikowskij, operettas by J. Strauß, drama by W. Shakespeare.
90 years ago in 1913 the sculptor Anton Aicher put together a few small puppets on strings to demonstrate how realistic Mozart's opera "Bastien and Bastienne" could be performed with marionettes. A long artistic development took place between the year of its foundation and the beginning of the 21st century. The repertoire has been widened to include fairy tales, ballet and plays. And the magic of Salzburg's Marionette Theater is undiminished, also in this high-tech age.
