The Folklore Museum will blossom out in a particular way this spring! A special exhibition to open June 1 at 11:00 a.m. will focus on buds, blossoms and flowers – immortalized in every color and shape.
Flowers made of silk, satin, delicate threads and precious metals are often carefully handcrafted down to the tiniest detail to resemble their living counterparts. The art of arranging flowers was already highly developed in antiquity – and the beauty of an undying flower has often been the theme of paintings, fabrics and floral arrangements. Today the craft of making artificial flowers is primarily practiced by folk artists, although they are also produced in convents, art studios, by manufacturers, etc.
This exhibition focuses on the fascination behind the "decorative blossoms" immortalized in art and folk culture and their marked occurrences over the centuries to this day.
