This excursion can be individually organized by selecting different routes and points of interest. The following four examples are only part of the tours available:
Example 1
Leave the city center taking the West Motorway to the town of Mondsee (visit St. Michael's collegiate church with its Gothic and Baroque interior), continue along the Mondsee, across the wild and romantic Sharfling Pass, past the legendary Krottensee, past St. Gilgen (birthplace of Mozart's mother), along the Wolfgangsee to St. Wolfgang (visit the church with the famous Gothic winged altar-piece built by Michael Pacher). Depending on how much time is available, a coffee break or lunch at the "Weisses Rössl" (origin and scene of the operetta "Im Weissen Rössl am Wolfgangsee" by Ralph Benatzky)can be included in the program. Return via St. Gilgen, Fuschl, along the Fuschlsee - view of Fuschl Palace (former hunting manor of Salzburg's prince-archbishops, today a luxury hotel) - back to Salzburg.

Example 2
Leave the city center taking the West Motorway to the town of Mondsee (visit St. Michael's collegiate church with its Gothic and Baroque interior), along the Mondsee, across the wild and romantic Sharfling Pass, past the legendary Krottensee to St. Gilgen (birthplace of Mozart's mother), board a scheduled or special boat to St. Wolfgang (visit the church with the famous Gothic winged altar-piece built by Michael Pacher). Lunch at the "Weisses Rössl" (origin and scene of the operetta "Im Weissen Rössl am Wolfgangsee" by Ralph Benatzky), continuing on to Bad Ischl with a visit to the Emperor's Villa (former summer residence of the Emperor Joseph I and his wife Elisabeth), on to Strobl, St. Gilgen, along the Fuschlsee - view of Fuschl Palace (former hunting manor of Salzburg's prince-archbishops, today a luxury hotel) - to Jagdhof Fuschl (a carefully renovated farmhouse dating from the 17th century) with a coffee break and visit to the hunting and pipe museum (if time allows), back to Salzburg via Hof and Guggenthal.

Example 3
Leave from the city center taking the Tauern Motorway to Golling, continuing over the Gschütt Pass through a beautiful alpine landscape to the town of Hallstadt on the Hallstättersee (boasting the oldest salt mines in the world and the emerging culture from the Hallstatt Era, 1000-500 B.C.). Visit the church (Gothic winged altar-piece) with the mountain cemetery and the famous charnel-house. Lunch at the hotel "Grüner Baum" (located in the center of town, directly on the lake), continue along the Traun River via Bad Goisern to Bad Ischl with a visit to the Emperor's Villa (former summer residence of the Emperor Joseph I and his wife Elisabeth), on past Strobl, St. Gilgen, along the Fuschlsee - view of Fuschl Palace (former hunting manor of Salzburg's prince-archbishops, today a luxury hotel) - to Jagdhof Fuschl (if time allows, a coffee break can be included in the program), returning to Salzburg via Hof and Guggenthal.

Example 4
Leave from the city center taking the West Motorway to Gmunden am Traunsee (a town with a historic center, palaces and many attractions). Visit Gmundner Handwerkskeramik (with free guided tour and chance to buy handcrafted ceramics), continue along the Traunsee until you reach Traunkirchen, lunch at the Hotel "Post," afterwards follow the Traun River through the romantic Weissenbach Valley, along the Attersee and the eastern bank of the Mondsee to the town of Mondsee. Visit St. Michael's collegiate church (with its Gothic and Baroque interior) and if time allows, stop for a coffee break at one of the lovely cafés. Return to Salzburg either via the motorway or over the Scharfling Pass, past St. Gilgen and Fuschlsee.
