2009 Mozart Week - Winter's classical music highlight
Internationally renowned artists will make Mozart Week another highlight on the winter 2009 concert calendar.
The program will deal with the relationship between Mozart and Haydn presenting works such as Haydn's Creation and his Sinfonia concertante or Mozart's cantata Davide penitente as well as chamber music, piano sonatas, symphonies, vocal pieces and string quartets by both composers.
Two contemporary composers, Pierre Boulez and Matthias Pintscher, will also be featured.
The 2009 Mozart Week program will also boast artists such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt, René Jacobs, Sir Simon Rattle, Seiji Ozawa, Annette Dasch, András Schiff, Daniel Barenboim, Jörg and Carolin Widmann and Elena Bashkirova as well as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Musiciens du Louvre and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. The internationally acclaimed pianist, Mitsuko Uchida, will be this year's Artist in Residence.
