In 2007 Salzburg finished on fourth place (together with Paris) in the “Conde Nast Traveller” Reader’s Choice Award competition and received 80,6 points out of hundred possible points. 2007 was the second best year since tourism statistics are published. This excellent result is only topped by the results of the extraordinary Mozart-Year in 2006.
Compared to 2006 there were slight decreases in overnights in the German speaking markets: Austria (-0, 1 %), Germany (-2, 2 %). Substantial decreases are to be reported from Switzerland, Japan and USA. The statistics however shows an increase in markets such as Great Britain (+13 %), Russia (+40 %) or India (+53 %).

Salzburg Congress:

In the year 2007 Salzburg Congress recorded its best year since the opening of the congress centre in 2001. The turnover topped even the results of the Mozart-Year 2006. This success is not least due to the fact that the building in the heart of the city is a venue offering a variable room layout, state-of-the-art equipment and a comprehensive customer orientation. The international customer structure was just as many-faceted as the building last year:  A large number of congresses contributed to this increase in turnover and visitors. Especially numerous medical conferences took place last year such as e.g. the „International Conference on Alzheimer & Parkinson Disease“ which was attended by 1.500 physicians from all over the world.

Exhibition Center Salzburg

2007 was the most successful year since opening of the fair ground. More than 500.000 visitors attended 36 fairs either for the trade or for the public. The turnover was recorded at the amount of some € 10 Millions.
